2026 Stylists Career Path.
There are 7 levels of stylists at Fringe Salon.
1.Apprentice Stylist
Hybrid model, 2 full days “behind the chair” and 2 ½ -3 days apprenticing. Entry level Stylist position, after completing the Fringe Salon internal apprentice education program. Fixed Pricing based on Stylists’ needs plus parts pricing. 6-12 months, upon evaluation. Attend All in Salon Classes (ex: Curly Cuts $65, 120 mins)
2. Beginning Stylist
Full time position,35 hrs min--40 hours a week for more client opportunity.. Fixed Pricing based on timing of Stylists’ need, plus parts pricing. Approx 1 year, based upon evaluation with service timing. Attend all in salon classes.(ex: Curly Cuts $75, 120-90 mins)
3. Level 1 Stylist
Full time position, 35 hrs min -40 hours a week for more client opportunity. Start with same timing as end timing of Beginning Stylist, move to "standard"/ service timing. Hourly pricing (parts and labor) model, as level 1 gets faster, income increases. Attend All In Salon Classes. (ex: Curly Cuts $95, 90-75 mins)
4. Level 2 Stylist
Full time position, 35 hrs min a week. Hourly pricing (parts and labor). Honing all skills, especially client consultation/satisfaction. Attend all in salon classes, invest in Outside education with a view to starting the road to a certification. Invest in better tools. (ex: Curly Cut $115, 75 mins)
5. Level 3 Stylist
Full time position, 31 hrs min -35 hrs a week. Part time option (26 hours min)
Hourly pricing (parts and labor). Focus on investing in outside education (1 full certification from Rezo-Deva-FC-Innersense) Unlock benefit of 2 days paid vacation if working 35 hrs min a week (ex: Curly Cut $135, 75-60 mins)
6. Level 4 Stylist
Full time position, 31 hrs min -35 hrs a week. Part time option (26 hours min)
Hourly pricing (parts and labor). Focus on investing in outside education (another- making 2- full certifications from Rezo-Deva-FC-Innersense) Customize the services you wish to offer. Unlock benefit of 3 days paid vacation if working 35 hrs min a week (ex: Curly Cut $155, 75-60 mins)
7.Level 5 Stylist / Educator Stylist
Full time position, 31 hrs min -35 hrs a week. Part time option (26 hours min)
Hourly or fixed pricing plus. Parts and labor model. Focus on investing in outside education (another- making 3- full certifications from Rezo-Deva-FC-Innersense) Customize desired services. Unlock benefit of 4 days paid vacation if working 35 hrs min a week (ex: Curly Cut $175, 75-45 mins)
Stylists
The Stylists are the lifeblood of the salon, they render the services and their sales in homecare is a primary way that homecare is sold. Service and Homecare sales are what pays for everything in the salon (the whole tree system, assets, retail stock.) A well educated, passionate, and supported team is paramount to the health of a salon. Fringe Salon’s aim is to level up to the task. Fringe Salon Stylists are: Audrey Dwyer, Erin Anderson, Beth Stevcic, Lee Ann Moore, Avery Markarian.
Apprentice
This position is ideal for growing as a stylist at Fringe Salon. This full time position directly supports the stylists by way of shampooing, product application, treatment and color applications. This allows the stylists to maximize their books, and keep the clients flowing. The position also includes topical cleaning, deep cleaning, shampoo area, laundry/towels, sweeping, guest experience, support at the sales desk when needed.. This position teaches time management, and the ability to understand the flow of salon life. Bug Small is the Apprentice.
Salon Coordinator
There are 2 part time salon coordinators at Fringe Salon. A Salon Coordinator is active at the Sales Desk, responsible for check in and check out, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, upholding the cancellation policy, client communication/experience, helping out the apprentice when needed. Opening and Closing duties. Colette Laughlin and Symone Salib are the Part Time Salon Coordinators.
Salon Maintenance
Running a brick and mortar requires constant maintenance/ improvements. Having reliable people to fix, build, clean and maintain the space is a must. Zoltan Bodi is the main handyman. Shane Archer deep cleans monthly. Chuck Scipio maintains the wood floors yearly. Steve Sublunsky is the main GM for Bok helpline. S &S Heating and Cooling do yearly PMs for the HVAC and repairs.
Salon Manager
The Salon Manager is also a part time Salon Coordinator. The Salon Manager manages all things “on the floor” including managing the other part time salon coordinator, all client communication/booking, maintenance, all things inventory, social media stories/weekly announcements, managing stylists’ book in regards to scheduling,rescheduling, cancellations and time off. The Salon Manager meets weekly with the Owner to strategize improvements in the salon. Colette Laughlin is the Salon Manager.
Chief Financial Officer
A Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a senior executive responsible for managing a company's financial operations, planning, and strategy. Key duties include directing accounting functions, forecasting, risk management, overseeing capital structure, payroll, state tax filing, and driving profitability through financial analysis to support a healthy growing salon space. The CFO is an expert in Phorest Reports and works under a company called True Profit Salons, a salon industry centric fiscal expert company. True Profit Salons helps with annual Federal, State and Local tax return and accountant strategy. Patrick Andrews is the CFO. Victoria Blane is the accountant.
Owner
The Owner is responsible for all "behind the scenes” and “big picture” planning at the salon. The owner handles all utilities, rent, banking, interfacing with landowners, leases, legal forms, taxes, and business insurances. The Owner assumes all risk for operating a small business.
The Owner has vetted and hired for all positions at the salon, including but not limited to a strategic planner, stylists, support staff. The Owner is in a school for salon owners, called High Performance Salon Academy, which is a hotbed for the most current of resources in tech, mindset and fiscal training. Much of the salon structure is based off of HPSA guidelines.
The Owner masterminds the education schedule for outside educators, and creates an internal teaching curriculum for Apprentices, existing stylists, and for seasoned stylists who join the team. The owner hand picks product lines for the salon. Also, all marketing aspects of the salon, the website, and ad campaigns, seasonal offers, etc. The messaging in the marketing informs the team’s ability to deliver on what is being communicated to existing and potential guests, which directly correlates with the quality of education provided within the salon. Erin Anderson is the Owner.
Marketing Support
The Remote (or Virtual) Assistant collaborates weekly with The Owner on creating content for social media, website, internal branding, and other marketing platforms. The VA is also able to improve SEO, organize digital media, and create a schedule for posting at optimal times, and monitoring engagement. The VA has been vetted by HPSA, and is from a company called HPSVA. Cris-Lou is the VA.
Products/Education
The Salon aligns with brands that help support the Natural Texture Guest AND Stylist relationship to operate at the highest level possible. Our Brand to Distributor relationships help book yearly in salon education (valued at $750-$1000 a class for the educator) and communicates product specials and deals throughout the year. This relationship is integral to the health of the salon, and is taken very seriously. Cris Smith is our rep for Ethos. Steph from Simply Organic, Dana from Cosmoprof, amongst all the many other educators we have in house.
