How do I choose a stylist?
We recommend letting the work of the stylist choose you. Please go on our Instagram to check out our work or Devacurl.com site to look at reviews and certifications for each stylist. The DevaCut ranges from $55 to $85 and is based on the experience level of the stylist. Textured hair is complex and one may have a unique need, that may require more experience, for the most favorable outcome!
What is the DevaCut process like?
Your stylist will use a dry-cutting technique, so please arrive at the salon with your curls or waves encouraged as if you were going somewhere nice. No elastics, ponytails, knots. Please come wearing your hair on the part that you wear. Your hair will be washed after the haircut, fully dried and then checked. *It is imperative that we fully dry your hair to check the haircut *
Your haircut appointment can take up to two hours, especially if your hair has been severely damaged due to any of the following: heat, chemical damage due to being over processed, use of silicon based products and shampoos with sulfates.
If your hair is extra long or extra tangled it can add extra time to your appointment. Please allow the appropriate amount of time for the haircut, as we do not want our time with you shortened. We strongly recommend, not making plans too soon after your appointment.
How much is a DevaCut and why is it more expensive than a regular haircut?
The DevaCut is specialized, dry haircut that is done on textured hair either wave by wave or curl by curl, actually in groupings of three strands. It takes longer to cut hair using this technique, and what our guests love how the hair is shaped in a perfectly blended way. The DevaCut ranges from $55-$85
The DevaCut lasts almost three times as long as a regular wet haircut, (with proper home care), because it holds its shape better and grows out more gracefully. Another reason we use this technique is because the stylist is able to see the shape and texture pattern better than wet, resulting in a more predictable and favorable result. At Fringe Salon, we take pride on staying educated and our training is ongoing. We are always staying on top of all the latest techniques, styles and products.
The DevaCut can go up in price if:
1. It's been longer than a year since your last professional haircut because reshaping and cutting hair that hasn't been maintained professionally, takes longer.
2. There is extreme matting and tangling that adds on extra time than the allotted 1.5 hours plus.
3. If the hair is extremely thick and/or long we may need to use additional products.
What is our policy on canceling, modifying or rescheduling appointments?
If the appointment time is more than an hour scheduled on our books (ie: cut AND color), we need to take a 50% deposit at time of booking the appointment. Keep in mind, the service when rendered may become more that quoted over the phone or at consultation. More product or bond builders may need to be added to chemical, which could make the price increase.
If this is your first time coming in to see us and you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give us at least 24 hours notice from your scheduled appointment time. If the appointment is canceled with less than 24 hours of notice, we require payment of the balance due from the service canceled, before a new appointment is scheduled.
If you have been to our salon and need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice from the scheduled appointment time, we require a fee worth 50% of the cancelled service, before a new appointment is scheduled.
Additionally, any guests who are scheduled with multiple services in one day, ( ie. Color and haircut or haircut and conditioning treatment), who wish to modify their appointment, please notify the salon at least 24 hours from the scheduled appointment time. If less than 24 hours notice was given from the scheduled appointment time, and the modified appointment takes less time, than the original services scheduled, it is treated the same as a cancellation for that service that was cancelled. For example, if you are scheduled with a highlight, base color and haircut, then change it to only a haircut, without giving us 24 hours notice, we will ask for a 50% fee of the services canceled.
We will not require a fee for cancellations due to emergency or illness.
Fringe Salon has a “2 week policy” on tweaking a cut or color if client is not completely happy. If a chemical needs to be used, a chemical fee will be charged. We want the client to be completely happy with the look! After 2 weeks, the hair grows and color fades, so we can’t adjust the work rendered at time of appointment.
Remember too: Fringe Salon does complimentary bang trims and neck clean ups!
Consultations and first-timer info.
We offer complimentary consultations that must be scheduled in advance. Consultations are in 15 minute blocks. We encourage all new guests, looking to book a color and haircut service on the same day, to come in for a consultation so we can schedule the appropriate amount of time for your services. We also suggest splitting up your first haircut and color services into two separate appointments. This allows the stylist to get to know your hair and to understand exactly what needs to be scheduled for the color appointment. Splitting up color and cut appointments, is only suggested for guests who are new to our salon.
I have wavy/curly/coily hair but want a wet haircut. Is this possible?
If you have heard about our expertise with textured hair it is because of our extensive training and focus on cutting textured hair using the DevaCut technique. We will not cut curly hair wet, which is similar to cutting it blindfolded. If you are letting your hair air-dry naturally, are diffusing it, or looking to encourage your natural texture the majority of the time, then the DevaCut is the method we will use, to ensure the best results!
Am I still able to blow out my hair straight?
Yes, and the DevaCut blows out beautifully! The DevaCut is a haircut that can be done on any texture, not just curly or super curly. While we recommend that you give your hair a rest from the heat and tension for 6 months after your DevaCut, we understand that the commitment to not blowing your hair out straight may be unrealistic. Please note that the DevaCut works better when not flat-ironed but blown out loose and smooth!
